Comparison

Spooly or SimplyPrint: an honest comparison

In short: SimplyPrint fits if you want to control your printers from the cloud, with a queue and a slicer, or if you run brands like Klipper and Creality. The Filament Manager is one part of that. Spooly fits if you print with Bambu Lab, Prusa or Anycubic and mainly want to keep your inventory, costs and orders under control.

I built Spooly and develop it on my own in Vienna. SimplyPrint covers more ground than Spooly in many areas, and this page says so.

When SimplyPrint fits

If you run a mix of brands, especially with Klipper or Creality, SimplyPrint covers more than Spooly today. The same goes if you want to start prints remotely, keep a queue or slice in the cloud. Spooly does none of that.

SimplyPrint is also ahead on NFC: it reads and writes several tag standards, from your phone, in the browser or with a USB reader.

When Spooly fits

Spooly is built around your inventory. You see what is left, what a print cost and when a spool will run out. The number of printers doesn't affect the price, the limit on the Free plan is 20 spools.

If you sell prints, Pro lets you create projects and orders, log work time and send cost breakdowns as a PDF. On top of that there is a maintenance log that analyzes Bambu error codes, drying reminders and a benefits portal with discount codes. The data is stored on Hetzner servers in the EU.
