The Story Behind Spooly
How a personal frustration became a solution for thousands of 3D printers.
How It All Began
Spooly was born from a problem every 3D printer owner knows: "How much filament is left on the spool?" and "Will it be enough for my next print?"
As an enthusiastic 3D printer with over 50 filament spools in my collection, I tried various solutions: Excel spreadsheets, Spoolman on the Raspberry Pi, handwritten notes. But nothing was really practical. Excel was cumbersome, Spoolman required its own server, and notes were quickly lost.
With the purchase of my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon, the problem became even bigger. The printer is fantastic, but the filament management in Bambu Studio left much to be desired. No automatic tracking, no cloud sync, no moisture warnings.
So I developed Spooly - a modern, cloud-based solution that offers exactly the features I missed myself. Over time, more and more features were added, based on feedback from other users.

We want 3D printer owners to never run out of material mid-print again. Spooly should be the simplest and most intuitive solution for managing filaments - whether you have 5 or 500 spools.
