Bambu Lab Integration
Spooly can connect to your Bambu Lab Cloud account and automatically import your print jobs. Here's how it works:
1. Connect your Bambu Lab account in settings
2. Spooly regularly fetches your print history
3. New completed prints appear in Spooly
4. Filament usage is automatically deducted from the corresponding filament
You no longer need to manually enter usage - Spooly does it automatically for you!
All Bambu Lab printers with cloud connection are supported:
• Bambu Lab X1 Carbon
• Bambu Lab X1
• Bambu Lab P1S
• Bambu Lab P1P
• Bambu Lab A1
• Bambu Lab A1 Mini
The requirement is that your printer is connected to the Bambu Lab Cloud and you send print jobs via Bambu Studio or the mobile app.
Your password is never stored. When connecting, a temporary access token is requested from Bambu Lab - only this token is stored encrypted (AES-128, Fernet) in our database.
The token only allows retrieving your print history - no other actions like printing or changing settings. You can disconnect at any time in the settings - the token is then deleted immediately.
Automatic synchronization requires the Bambu Lab Cloud connection. If you use pure LAN mode, prints are not synchronized automatically.
However, you can still enter usage manually. Many users use a "hybrid mode": cloud for Spooly tracking, but local printing for speed.
Spooly automatically checks for new print jobs every 30 minutes. You can also trigger a synchronization manually by clicking "Sync now" in the settings.
New prints typically appear within a few minutes after the print is completed.
Features & Functions
Many filaments are hygroscopic: they absorb moisture from the air. This can lead to print problems like stringing, bubbles, or poor layer adhesion.
Spooly estimates how dry each filament still is, based on:
• The time since the last drying
• The storage (e.g. vacuum bag, dry box, AMS or open)
• How sensitive the material is (Nylon absorbs moisture faster than PLA, for example)
The estimate starts once you mark a spool as dried or enter a drying date. You can see at a glance which filaments you should dry before printing. Moisture tracking is part of Spooly Pro.
You can print a QR code label for each filament in various sizes (38mm, 50mm, 62mm). The label contains:
• A unique QR code
• Filament name and color
• Material type
When you scan the code (with the integrated scanner or your phone camera), the filament detail page opens directly in Spooly. This gives you instant access to all info like remaining amount, last print, price per kg, etc.
With the AI photo import (Pro feature), you can add filaments by taking a photo. This works for:
• Invoices/delivery notes: Take a photo of your Amazon/retailer invoice - the AI automatically recognizes manufacturer, material, color, weight, and price.
• Filament spools: Take a photo of the label on the spool - the AI reads out the information.
The recognized data is pre-filled and you can correct it if needed before saving the filament.
Yes! Spooly supports multiple filament types:
• Single color: Normal filaments with one color
• Multicolor/Rainbow: Filaments with a color gradient along the length
• Dual-Color: Two colors, e.g. two-tone or coextruded
• Marble/Mix: Mixed colors like marble effect
For multi-colored filaments, you can specify all colors, and the display in Spooly shows the corresponding color gradient.
Yes! If you have been using Spoolman, you can import your complete database to Spooly:
• SQLite import: Export your Spoolman database as an SQLite file and import it into Spooly
• JSON import: Alternatively, you can export and import your data as JSON
All filaments, manufacturers, and usage data are transferred. The import can be found in the settings.
Yes, Spooly automatically calculates the costs for each print based on:
• Material costs: Based on the purchase price of your filament
• Amount used: In grams, recorded automatically or manually
With Pro you can additionally:
• Calculate electricity costs (based on print time)
• Include labor time (with your hourly rate)
• Calculate wear
• Separate private and commercial prints
Privacy & Security
Your data is securely stored in the EU:
• Database: MongoDB Atlas, data center in Frankfurt (Germany)
• Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL)
• Passwords: Stored hashed with bcrypt - even we cannot read them
• Backups: Daily automatic backups
We never sell your data to third parties. See our complete privacy policy for details.
Yes! You can export your data at any time:
• Filament list: As CSV for Excel/Sheets
• Print history: As CSV or JSON
• Complete export: All your data as JSON
The export can be found in settings under "Export Data".
Yes, you can completely delete your account and all associated data at any time. Go to account settings and select "Delete Account".
After deletion, all your data will be irrevocably removed from our systems within 30 days. Recovery is not possible after that.
When you cancel your Pro subscription:
• Your data is preserved
• You still have access to the free version
• Filaments above the free limit (20) are not deleted, but you cannot add new ones
If you want to delete your account completely, you have to do that separately in the settings.
Import & Migration
You can import filaments via CSV. Your CSV should contain the following columns:
• name (required)
• material (e.g. PLA, PETG, ABS)
• color (color name)
• manufacturer
• weight (total weight in g)
• remaining (remaining weight in g)
• price
Go to Settings > Import > Select CSV. Spooly shows you a preview before the import.
Yes! Switching from Spoolman is easy:
1. Export your Spoolman database (SQLite or JSON)
2. Go to Settings > Import > Spoolman in Spooly
3. Select your export file
4. Check the preview and confirm the import
All filaments, usage data, and manufacturers are transferred. The process only takes a few seconds.
Mobile Usage
Spooly is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works like a native app. You don't need an installation from the app store:
1. Open spooly.eu in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android)
2. Tap "Share" or the menu
3. Select "Add to Home Screen"
4. Spooly appears as an app icon
The PWA offers fast access, works offline for your filament list, and can scan QR codes.
Yes! Spooly has an integrated QR scanner that uses your phone's camera. You can also simply use the normal camera app - the recognized Spooly links automatically open the app.
The scanner also supports scanning multiple codes in a row, e.g. if you want to quickly check several filaments.
Partially. The PWA version caches your filament list so you can view it even without an internet connection.
For actions like entering usage, syncing, or adding new filaments, you need an internet connection. The changes are synchronized as soon as you are back online.
