Comparison

Spooly or Bambuddy: an honest comparison

In short: Bambuddy fits if you only have Bambu printers, want to work without the Bambu Cloud and run your own server. It is open source and has no subscription. Spooly fits if you don't want to install anything, are fine with the cloud and need phone apps or printers from other brands.

I built Spooly and develop it on my own in Vienna. If you print in pure LAN mode, Bambuddy is the better choice today.

When Bambuddy fits

If you don't want a cloud and already run a home server. Bambuddy is open source, needs no account or subscription and works without the Bambu Cloud. It adds original Bambu spools with RFID to the inventory automatically.

When Spooly fits

If you don't want to maintain a server. You create an account and connect your Bambu account. There are apps for iOS and Android, and Pro adds projects and orders. In return, Spooly needs the cloud connection, and your data sits on servers in the EU, not at your home.
